Microbiological Products (Media Manufacturing)
The Microbiological Products Department is an FDA registered in-vitro diagnostic manufacturer. Product lines include custom and proprietary media as well as standardized microbiological products.
In the industrial market, NEL is committed to work directly with food manufacturers, cosmetic companies, pharmaceutical companies and the biotechnology industry offering custom products to meet their specific microbiology needs.
Microbiology Services (Microbiology)
The Microbiology Services Division includes two units: Environmental Microbiology & Food Microbiology.
The Environmental Microbiology Unit routinely analyzes air, water and soil samples for a variety of microorganisms for a wide range of industries.
Drinking water is assayed for coliform bacteria and E. coli as indicators of surface water and septic, respectively, intrusion into drinking water systems. Public bathing beaches and pools are tested for indicators of fecal contamination and potential infectious agents. Sludges and composts are assayed for clients primarily in the field of waste water treatment. Assays for molds and bacteria in air (bioaerosois) and in building materials are conducted to assess and control exposure to workers and products.
Increased emphasis on safety of food supply is spawning an increase in food testing. Food manufacturers are required to monitor and control the manufacturing environment. NEL Microbiology Laboratory offers unique support services and improved test turn-around-times for food manufacturers.
Environmental Analytical Services (Chemistry)
The Environmental Analytical Services includes four distinct units: wet or general chemistries, inorganic, organic and radiological chemistry.
The analytical chemistry laboratory performs a variety of analyses for private clients as well as government agencies. NEL is committed to providing analytical testing services and generating scientifically valid data of known and documented quality. It is the laboratory’s policy to conduct all projects in a timely manner using USEPA, FDA, ASTM, AOAC and other Standard Reference Methods as well as state of the art technology/instrumentation.
